The most important thing about me is that I love acupuncture!!

It is a beautiful medicine which touches and heals us in such a deep and profound way. I often say that I am the luckiest person in the world to be doing this medicine and because I have the best patients in the world. I am a very lucky gal!

I began life in the farm country of Western Howard County, Maryland where I learned to love and appreciate the Earth and how to live gently on it. My youth was spent living life in sync with the seasons. I think this was my real world introduction to acupuncture. Because acupuncture is a medicine based on the movement of the seasons I believe my understanding of it is truly embodied from all of those years of planting, hoeing, pulling weeds, harvesting and canning!

I was a very spiritual child and felt called to become a nurse at a very young age. I began my nursing career in 1987. I worked at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute working in the Neuroscience Critical Care Unit, the Adult Epilepsy Center and the Medical Intensive Care Unit (Bayview campus) before I started my full-time acupuncture career in 2000. As a nurse I held certifications in both Neuroscience Nursing and Critical Care Nursing. I taught many classes in the Baltimore-Washington area on neuroscience and critical care nursing related topics.

I loved nursing and still, I saw how we could heal a body but not necessarily heal the spirit. I wanted to expand my nursing practice and seriously considered becoming a nurse practitioner or a hospital chaplain.

I had been receiving acupuncture for years and always thought it to be too complicated and “precise” for me. I loved how acupuncture had changed my life in so many ways but the idea of studying acupuncture was terrifying!! I could not imagine how anyone could find the acupuncture points!!! And the Good Lord had a different idea. I heard the call to become an acupuncturist. And as full of trepidation as I was, I decided I had to heed that call!! And I am so glad I did! I completed my Masters Degree in Acupuncture (M.Ac.) from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (TAI) in 2000.

For the last fourteen years it has been my great privilege to help others with this beautiful medicine. While maintaining my private practice, I have served on the faculty of both the Traditional Acupuncture Institute, and the now, Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH). I am a licensed acupuncturist (L.Ac.) and a member of the Maryland Acupuncture Society.
